Strengthening Pond Management & Sustainable Water Use in Haryana.
A review meeting of the Haryana Pond & Wastewater Management Authority was held under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini on 19.05.2026.
During the meeting, directions were issued to strengthen the management and maintenance of ponds across the State. Emphasis was laid on ensuring beautification of ponds while preventing the accumulation of dirty water. It was also directed that instead of directly discharging village wastewater into ponds, a system should be developed for better treatment and management.
Further, it was decided that responsibility for pond maintenance should be entrusted to the respective Gram Panchayats to ensure effective upkeep at the local level.
To promote fish farming in large ponds, it was proposed that pond allotment be carried out through an online auction portal, encouraging transparency and wider participation.
